Boeing 314 Clipper

$50.00

Description

Boeing’s 314 Clipper was the epitome of luxury travel between the wars, carrying society’s elite across oceans, and inspiring countless future generations of dreamers.

Larry Sweat brings this iconic aircraft back to life in a tour de force of traditional stick and stringer balsa modeling. Originally designed for hand launching above soft grass, it would take little imagination for the experienced modeler to make it ready for the local pond.

Meticulously hand drawn and detailed, this plan set consists of 5 sheets showing all fuselage formers, wing profiles, and the countless other details needed to recreate one of the shining stars from aviation’s Golden Age.

Larry’s prototype is powered by four ParkZone PKZ3624 motors, with parallel pairs wired in series to a 2S 800mAh lipo battery. Guidance is provided by 3 sub-micro servos. Hitec HS-40 or similar recommended.

While only flown with radio control, Larry’s prototype was stable enough to suggest that it might also do well as as Free Flight model. As a 4-engine flying boat it offers 25 bonus points under current Flying Aces Club rules.
