Description
Flying Models proudly introduces the Drake 65, a tribute to legendary modelers Ken Willard, Fred Reese and Ivan Pettigrew.
The silhouette shows only slight adjustments made to Willard’s original Drake II – most notably the pylon and 5-cylinder dummy engine, added to channel a bit more Golden Age nostalgia. Additional inspiration drawn from stick and stringer designs by Reese and Pettigrew provides the ethereal flight profile only a lightly loaded wing can offer.
While the prototype utilizes just rudder, elevator and throttle control, the three plan sheets also detail an optional aileron installation for builders preferring a bit more maneuverability in the air. That said, the Drake 65 remains a light weight flyer, ideally enjoyed on still mornings and calm evenings.
