Description

De Havilland’s Dragonfly was a cleaned up and smaller version of the yeoman DH89 Rapide, offering speed, comfort and style between the wars for those of means. Ivan’s model captures that elegant era of flight with his typical lightweight construction and modern efficiency with a Brushless-LiPo power system. His prototype is fitted with a split flap to add drag for making a steeper approach without slipping. as per full scale practice for passenger comfort. And while aerobatics were not scale manoeuvres for the Dragonfly, the model is quite capable of large graceful loops, stall turns and Cuban eights when you want the occasional change from scale-like flying. Rolls are slow side but can be done. Spins depend on the CG location and tail surface throws. The interplane wing struts are secured with small rare earth magnets, so field assembly is fast. This is a robust model that can be thrown about and enjoyed (August 2012).
